Property crimes are down on the Northside, while violent crimes are slightly up.
For the first three months of the year, violent crimes in Precinct Four were up 6.3 percent, while property crime were down 22.7 percent, according to documents provided to the Sun.
Through March 29, there were double-digit decreases in auto burglaries, auto thefts, cases of grand larceny, house burglary and armed robbery.
Precinct Four Cmdr. James McGowan credits the decrease to an increased police presence and strong communication from and between residents.
