Sheriff Getting Raise
MADISON COUNTY Sheriff Randy Tucker will be making $100,000 a year starting July 1, thanks to an amendment passed by the Mississippi Legislature this year.
Tucker currently makes $88,000.
Under House Bill 1409, principally authored by Speaker of the House Philip Gunn, county sheriffs will make no less than the following salaries, based on the population of their respective counties:
For counties with more than 100,000 people, $99,000;
45,000 to 100,000 people, $90,000;
