RETAIL SALES are up in the tri-county area as fiscal year 2014 heads into the home stretch.
According to statistics from the Mississippi Department of Revenue (DOR), Hinds, Madison and Rankin counties all saw an increase in sales from July through March.
DOR measures fiscal years from July 1 through June 30.
With the recent opening of The Outlets of Mississippi in Pearl, Rankin County has vastly outpaced Hinds and Madison in retail sales growth. The outlets opened in November with 325,000 square feet of space and more than 70 stores.
