Years ago I had the pleasure of knowing and becoming friends with Tom Collins. (An easy name to remember.) Tom was the owner and proprietor of ‘The Q and M Bait Shop’ located on Old Canton Road. In the early and mid-’70s, his business, a combination gas station/grocery/bait shop, was one of the few stores in Madison County near the Ross Barnett Reservoir. And, of special note, it was one of only two nearby places to buy beer.
