Cochran pushes NFIP changes
Sen. Thad Cochran is hopeful that a bill will be passed soon that would amend changes made to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through the Biggert-Waters Act.
However, many Northsiders likely won’t feel the effects of the changes.
Cochran is one of a bipartisan group of eight senators who have authored the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act (HFIA), which now has 29 co-sponsors.
Cochran, according to staffers in his Washington office, believes the bill could be voted on in the next few weeks.
