Code enforcement help sought by Madison
THE CITY OF MADISON wants to be able to write tickets for property code violations instead of arresting people.
In 2012, Madison officials tried to get a local and private bill passed that would allow the city’s code enforcement officers to issue citations for properties that were not up to code. But that bill didn’t get far.
This year, City Attorney John Hedglin said, “We think we’ll have more luck approaching it as a general bill [that would apply to all cities in Mississippi].”
