WAC Mary Leslie Thomas Townsend (center) is shown as the Color Guard led the
V-E Day parade in Paris, May 14, 1945, ahead of the troops. She was stationed in Paris during most of the war and survived the ‘buzz bombing’ of Paris. She is the mother of Northsiders Thomas and Edward Townsend and Libba Wilks.
