A conversation with Chief Horton on leading Jackson police
Lindsey Horton has been police chief of Jackson for about eight months. Horton, who is a graduate of Jackson Public Schools and Jackson State University, worked his way up through the ranks since joining the Jackson Police Department in 1985. Since then he has served as a patrol officer, supervisor, and member of the department’s SWAT team. He served 11 years as a deputy chief before being appointed chief in 2013 by the late Mayor Chokwe Lumumba. He recently spoke to Sun Staff Writer Anthony Warren about his role and the department.
