CONSTRUCTION on one of the Northside’s most anticipated projects is slated to begin next month.
A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for June 6 for the Fortification Street Improvement Project.
Work should get under way shortly after the event wraps up, said Jackson Director of Communications Chris Mims. “From what I understand, contractors are already beginning to mobilize,” he said.
The ceremony comes more than a month after the city council awarded an $8.9 million contract to Hemphill Construction.
