Last month a young friend gave me an orchid for a late birthday gift. She noticed it while on a quick grocery store run, and thought I’d like it. And she was right. It stands tall and beautiful, well-staked in its attractive pot, with a cluster of creamy white blooms decorated with a calico pattern of purple flowers.
I put it where we could all enjoy it - in the middle of the dining room table - and the next day began to think about what it needed to be happy. It’s still on the dining room table. I like to go visit it, looking at the bloom at eye level.
