As Ballet Mississippi’s artist-in-residence and a member of the Corps De Ballet with the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) in New York, Mikhail Ilyin splits his time between Jackson and New York.
Because of his responsibilities with ABT in 2011, Ilyin wasn’t able to perform in “The Nutcracker,” Ballet Mississippi’s winter production.
It was the first time that the St. Petersburg, Russia-born dancer had to sit out the Christmas classic since becoming artist-in-residence in 2005.
