National spotlight on Gene Tolley's trip to Washington

GENE TOLLEY had no idea he’d be making national news during his recent flight to Washington, D.C.
Tolley, 88, was one of the 91 World War II veterans who were part of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Honor Flight that arrived in Washington on October 1, the first day of the government shutdown.
As a result of the shutdown, many memorials were closed off, potentially killing the veterans’ chances to see the World War II Memorial, the monument built in their honor.
