Building a brand new Hinds County jail just because some locks don’t work has got to be the worst idea we’ve heard in a long time. Has anybody told the Hinds County Board of Supervisors there’s a Great Recession going on? Has anybody told them that the government is broke? It’s time for restraint, not a whole new $50 million prison.
