For 30 years, New Stage Theatre hasn’t complied with the city of Jackson’s zoning ordinance.
A recent push to have the theater’s property rezoned to neighborhood mixed-use (NMU-1) changes that.
The Jackson planning board recently approved a request by New Stage to rezone its property and the property around it from R-4 residential to NMU-1.
The vote now must be upheld by the Jackson City Council. The council is expected to hear the matter on August 20.
