LT. HERRIOUS COTTON will be taking on the responsibilities of Precinct Four commander next week, following the recent resignation of Wendell Watts.
Watts, whose last day with the Jackson Police Department is Monday, turned in his resignation in April.
Officials with JPD had not announced a new commander as of Friday and said there is no time line for when a replacement for Watts would be named.
Watts tendered his resignation on April 23 to take a job as head of security with Central Mississippi Medical Center.
