OFFICIALS SAY extreme summer weather and a weak economy have driven down attendance at the Jackson Zoo in recent years.
But the worst might be over for the nearly century-old park, which has boasted strong attendance figures as of late.
For the week of spring break, 13,000 people visited the park, and “there were 2,800 people here for Zoo Day on March 10,” said Zoo Director Beth Poff. “Spring break is a good indication of what to expect for the year, so we’re upbeat.”
