THREE ARMED robberies and a strong-arm robbery were among crimes Jackson police were investigating recently on the Northside.
On November 12, a woman was robbed at her home in the 4300 block of Brook Drive. According to police reports, the woman was in her backyard watching employees do lawn work when she was approached by two males. Precinct Four Officer Don McCluskey said one man was described as Caucasian and the other Hispanic.
The incident occurred at 12:08 that afternoon. The woman said two men pulled up in a vehicle and walked to the back of the house where she was standing. While the three were talking, the Hispanic male grabbed the woman’s hand and took the diamond ring off her finger. The two then fled around to the front of the house, where they got into a vehicle and sped away, McCluskey said.
Witness reports indicate several discrepancies in the case. The woman said she was robbed by a white and Hispanic male, but one of the men working in the complainant’s yard said the two suspects were black.
The woman doesn’t give a description of the vehicle, but one of the witnesses said it was a dark truck.
On November 11, a man was robbed in the parking lot of the Parkside Inn at 3720 I-55 North. McCluskey said the man was standing near his white Toyota in the parking lot when he was approached by an unidentified black male. The suspect hit the victim, displayed a gun and told him to get in the car.
The incident happened at 11 p.m. on November 11, but wasn’t reported until 2:29 the next morning.
Once the two were in the vehicle, the crook demanded the man’s money. After taking the cash, the suspect hit the man twice with the gun before jumping out of the car and fleeing the scene on foot.
On November 13, a man was robbed at an apartment complex at 5845 Ridgewood Rd. The complainant was outside at 9:30 that night when he was approached by three unknown black males. One suspect pulled a gun and demanded money. The victim told the crooks that he didn’t have any and handed over the key to his Ford Mustang. Police reports don’t say that the vehicle was stolen. He reported the incident hours later after getting into his home.
Then, on November 13, a man was robbed at a complex at 5840 Ridgewood. The man said an unknown black male approached him, pointed a gun at him and demanded his wallet, cash and keys. McCluskey said the crime happened at 6 p.m., but wasn’t reported until the next day when the complainant could find a translator to talk with the police.
