Meet our staff
Wyatt Emmerich, publisher
As publisher, Wyatt oversees the entire operation of the newspaper staff. He is responsible for meeting the payroll and making sure the Sun is profitable while giving readers and advertisers a good value for their money. Wyatt is a fifth-generation Mississippian and the third generation of his family to be a newspaper publisher. He has been publisher of the Northside Sun for 19 years.


Jimmye Sweat, editor
Jimmye serves as editor of the Northside Sun Newspaper and the Northside Sun Magazine. In this position she is responsible for the editorial content of both publications. A journalism major from the University of Mississippi, she has been associated with the Northside Sun since the late ‘70s. She and her husband, Andy, make their home in Jackson.


Melanie North, advertising manager
Melanie joined The Northside Sun in 1999 as an account executive in advertising sales. In 2001, she assumed the position of advertising sales manager. She oversees the advertising department for both the newspaper and the magazine. She is a Canton native and graduate of Belhaven College. She and her husband Jeff, who writes a seasonal outdoors column for the newspaper, make their home in Brandon.


Katy Agnew, account executive
Katy joined the Northside Sun in March, 2005 as an account executive in advertising sales for the weekly newspaper and monthly magazine. She is a Tupelo native and a 2002 graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in communication. She, her husband Cliff, and their dog Mo make their home in Northeast Jackson.


Holly Dean, account executive
Holly Dean joined the Northside Sun’s advertising staff in April of 2008. She is a native of Northeast Jackson and now lives in Madison with her husband, Scott, and three boys, Walker, William and Patrick. Holly is a 1994 graduate of Mississippi State University, with a degree in marketing and a 2005 graduate of Millsaps College, earning a MBA.


Ginny Emmerich
Ginny became associated with the Northside Sun in 2008. A graduate of the University of Mississippi, she and her husband Wyatt, along with their three children, John, Lawrence and Ruth, live in Northeast Jackson.


Carly O'Bryant, advertising account executive
Carly joined the Northside Sun advertising team in June 2011. She is a native of Ocean Springs, MS and attended college at the University of Alabama. She now lives with her husband Matt and daughter Crawford in Ridgeland.


Carley Baker, advertising account executive
Carley joined the Northside Sun’s advertising staff in the summer of 2011. She is a native of Northeast Jackson and now lives in Ridgeland. Carley is a 2009 graduate of Mississippi State University, where she received her Bachelors of Business Administration, with a minor in Marketing.


Amy Forsyth, advertising account executive
Amy joined the Northside Sun’s advertising staff in April of 2011. She is a 1998 graduate of Southern Methodist University, with a degree in advertising and minor in Art History. Amy is a native of Texarkana, Texas and now lives in Madison with her husband, Matthew, and Golden Retriever, Bentley.


Anthony Warren, staff writer
Anthony joined the Sun in 2007 as a staff writer. He graduated from Mississippi College in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in communication. Although he's 27 years old, the future Pulitzer Prize winner still lives at home with his folks in Terry.


Katie Eubanks, reporter
Katie joined the Northside Sun as a staff writer in January 2011. A 2010 graduate of the University of Mississippi with a B.A. in print journalism, she lives with her parents and brother in Madison and attends Grace City Church in Jackson. Katie is excited to write for the Sun!


Beth Buckley, production/photographer
As a member of the production department, Beth is involved in all technical aspects of preparing the paper and magazine for publication. She also serves as the staff photographer. She has been associated with the Sun since 1993.


Jo Ann Ward, proofreader
Jo Ann, a graduate of the University of Mississippi, serves as a proofer for the newspaper and magazine. She and her husband, Robert live in Madison. They have two sons.


Wanda McCain, art director
McCain joined the Northside Sun in August, 2004 as a graphic artist for the Northside Sun newspaper. She is currently the art director for the Northside Sun Magazine. She is a Jackson native with a degree in graphic design from Mississippi State. She and her husband, Joe, make their home in Brandon.


Mary Margaret Thiel, Graphic Designer
Mary Margaret joined the Northside Sun in June of 2010. She is a native of Northeast Jackson and lives there with her husband, Matt. Mary Margaret is a 2007 graduate of The University of Mississippi with a degree in Art, minor in Journalism.


Dani Poe, circulation manager
Dani Poe joined the Northside Sun in November, 2005 as circulation manager for the weekly newspaper and monthly magazine. She is also responsible for the billing and collections for display advertising, payroll, accounts payable and financial statements. She and her husband, Shannon, have two children, Cody and Peyton, and live in Brandon.
