RESIDENTIAL building permits in Ridgeland have been on a steady incline since fiscal year 2009, but permits for new commercial buildings have done nothing but decrease since the recession.
This past fiscal year, the city issued 33 permits for new homes, up from 24 the year before. But on the commercial side, only four new construction permits were issued, down from 12 in fiscal year 2011.
