Tax assessor investigating illegal claims of homestead exemption in county

MADISON COUNTY IS well on its way to recovering more than $100,000 from an ongoing investigation of illegal claims for homestead exemption.

Madison County Tax Assessor Gerald Barber told the Sun the county was set to recoup nearly $127,000 from the investigation, which his office started last summer.
