MADISON AND RIDGELAND officials say it will likely take several years to put in wheelchair ramps on all public sidewalks as required by the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Cities were required to make plans last year to comply with the ADA, originally passed in 1990. Officials weren’t sure why the federal government waited so long to enforce the act.
