Back to the drawing board for Ridgeland's tax bill

RIDGELAND MAYOR Gene McGee says officials will soon start working on a bill that would authorize any city in Mississippi to temporarily increase sales tax if 60 percent of voters in the city approve.

“My position has always been that if there’s a project that’s worthy of allowing the citizens to vote to pay for that project, requiring a 60-percent majority, then when that project is over [the tax increase] goes away,” McGee said.
