
At one time, Art Linkletter was the highest-paid and best-loved of ad lib artists and masters of ceremonies in the nation. His “kids say the darndest things” segment was the most popular element of his television show in the late 1950s and ’60s. Putting a microphone in the hands of uninhibited, honest children was edgy stuff in those days.
