
Mississippi and Mississippians have a way of finding themselves on “lists,” some of national recognition whose intent is to cast negative aura.
There may be unsettling evidence that Mississippians are too much this way or that way, none good, so become listed. But then there follows a list of "best kept secrets," and high on that one is the recognition of imperfections, and a resolve to remedy them. There comes to be a commitment to excellence where ‘good enough’ never is.
