Criminalizing pot has failed

The sad case of the Madison couple now facing 30 years in prison for growing marijuana highlights the schizophrenia of our nation’s marijuana laws. Seventeen states now allow medical marijuana to be grown in the home. In Mississippi and other states, growing marijuana results in severe penalties. There is no other crime about which such a disparity exists between different states within our one nation. A disparity of this magnitude should not exist within the same nation.
