The Calliope Club recently enjoyed its annual spring party with a Kentucky Derby themed brunch at Fairview Inn. Party chairmen Lounette and Lamar Maxwell, with committee members Barbara and Bill Cook, Regina and Derwood Boyles, and Rita and Larry Johnson transformed Fairview into Churchill Downs for the day.
The Cooks brought their restored antique carriage and parked it at the front entrance of Fairview so everyone could enjoy seeing the traditional manner of arriving at the Derby in style. Upon entering, club members and their guests were offered mint juleps for visiting before brunch. The tables were decorated with large julep cup vases filled with flowers in the 2012 Derby colors of green and blue, and surrounded by horseshoes. Silver and crystal horse motif serving pieces were used, and the reception table was decorated with a mirrored container of red roses and silver horse candlesticks. Kentucky Derby music played in the background.
Shown are scenes from the luncheon.
