City focusing on properties presenting code violations

NEIGHBORS should no longer have to worry about cutting the grass at a home on Sheffield Drive.

Jackson city officials say they’ve reached an agreement with the owner of the home at 1701 Sheffield to clean up the property every two weeks.

The agreement Code Services reached with the home’s owner is a sign that dilapidated properties are on the city’s radar.

Since October, the city has demolished 71 derelict properties and resolved 297 other grass and weed cases.
