Miss Shivers, McNair planning December 30 wedding service

Mr. and Mrs. Jerrald Lamar Shivers announce the engagement of their daughter, Ann Elizabeth Shivers, to Daniel McKinney McNair, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Lamar McNair of Clinton.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. William Grady Clark and the late Mr. Clark of Florence, Dr. and Mrs. William Mack Martin of Hattiesburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dale Shivers of Evansville, Ind.

A graduate of Jackson Preparatory School, Miss Shivers continued her education at Samford University, where she will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in English and French in December. She is a Presidential and National Merit Scholar and an initiate of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. A member of the President’s Leadership Collegium, she also served as president of Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society. She is a member of Phi Mu sorority and is involved with Reformed University Fellowship.

The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Carpenter McKinney of Ocean Springs, and the late Mr. and Mrs. John William McNair Sr. of Mount Olive.

McNair attended Clinton High School and was graduated magna cum laude from the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College at the University of Mississippi in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in classics. At Ole Miss, he was involved with Reformed University Fellowship and is an initiate of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. He was also a member of Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society and Eta Sigma Phi Classics Honor Society. He is attending Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson where he is pursuing a master of divinity degree. He is also the youth director at Raymond Presbyterian Church.

The couple will exchange vows December 30 at 6 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Doctor Jennings Ligon Duncan III will officiate.
