Sarah Arlene Harkins and Matthew Earl Perkins were united in marriage February 10 in a candlelight ceremony at St. Richard Catholic Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Patrick Harkins Sr. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Darcy Perkins of Moss Point.
Father Michael O’Brien officiated the ceremony. Scripture was read by Cindy Prestage, Atkins Trout and Ginger Mattiace. Nuptial music was presented by Carnice Smith, soloist; Rob Robertson, organist; Cotina Wicks and Kimberli Sheilds, violinists; Kelli Sheilds, cellist; Dr. London Branch, bassist; and Kenneth Bean, trumpeter.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory Italian satin. Her strapless fitted bodice featured a satin sash adorned with a bow and brooch at the waist. The full A-line skirt flowed into a chapel-length train with covered buttons down the back and a border of Alencon lace at the bottom. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white Vendela roses which held a locket with her late grandfather’s picture, a ring belonging to her paternal great-grandmother and a rosary belonging to her maternal grandmother.
Anna Catherine Harkins was maid of honor. Kyle Kimbriel Still and Jessica Mattiace Crittenden were matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Mary Olivia Bass, Molly Edrington Berry, Natalie Pittman Dillon, Nan Thompson Katsaboulas, Leslea Kathryn Lee, Emily Louise McMullan, Blair Barnes Riley, Darcy Perkins Ross, Frances Anne Russell, Lindsey Maureen Schweigert, Rivers McCaskill Walker and Jane Claire Boyd Williams. Attendants wore strapless taupe European satin tea-length gowns enhanced by a champagne sash at the natural waistline and carried hand-tied bouquets of green hydrangeas, hybrid tea roses, pink peonies, Konfetti roses and tropical amazon roses.
Flower girl was Leah Michele Blevins and program attendants were Elizabeth Anne Gutherz, Shelby Laine Gutherz, Mary Theresa Gutherz, and Charlotte Rowley McMullan. The bride’s proxy was Ashley Lynn Giardina.
Weldon Darcy Perkins was best man. Groomsmen were Jeffrey Marshall Feinberg, Phillip Paul Gould, William Christopher Harkins, James Patrick Harkins Jr., David Alan Landrith, James Manning McPhillips Jr., Ryan Thomas McRee, Mason Scott Montgomery, Paul Harold Moore III, Richard Holmes Perkins, Robert Stewart Renfroe, Peter Samir Ross, John Gray Wallace and Dustin Nathaniel Williams. Ringbearers were Thomas Perkins Smith and Robert Hardy Smith.
Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride honored the couple with a reception at the Mississippi TelCom Center. Guests were entertained by the Bayou Connection Brass Band and the Bluz Boys.
On the eve of the wedding, parents of the bridegroom hosted a seated dinner in the Penthouse Ballroom at the Hilton Hotel.
A bridesmaid’s luncheon was hosted by the bride’s aunts and grandmothers at Schimmel’s restaurant. A wedding day brunch was held at the home of Timmy and Ingrid Taylor.
Following a wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, the couple is at home in Pascagoula.
