Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Dennis Higdon of Hazlehurst announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Jordan Higdon, to Tyler St. Clair Perrett, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Fred Perrett of Hazlehurst.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Spitchley, and Mrs. Kip Higdon and the late Mr. Frank Higdon, all of Hazlehurst. The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Emma Thompson and the late St. Clair Thompson of Crystal Springs, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ed Perrett of Hazlehurst.

Miss Higdon is a 2005 graduate of Copiah Academy. She is a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in education. She teaches five-year-old kindergarten at Crystal Springs Elementary.

Perrett is a 2002 graduate of Jackson Preparatory School. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in coaching and sports administration. He is associated with East Rankin Academy in Pelahatchie where he coaches football and baseball.

The couple will exchange vows December 19 at the First Baptist Church in Hazlehurst.
