With years of declining ridership, Jackson city officials say it’s time to rethink public transit.

“Transit needs to be a service to the community and all of the community,” Chief Administrative Officer Robert Blaine said. “For a long time, we looked at the service as only for those who have no means of transportation.


Council approves public access gates by 5-0 vote for Heatherwood for public access gates

The Heatherwood neighborhood promises to be safer for walkers, joggers, and pedestrians in general, following a recent vote by the Jackson City Council.

Recently, the council approved the Heatherwood Area Homeowners’ Association’s application to install a public access gate along Briarfield Road.







Bills calling for transparency in communications spending die in legislative committees

County leaders’ calls for more transparency in state emergency communications spending have so far gone unheeded by the Mississippi Legislature.
