Fitness trail opening

The Lakeshore Park fitness trail at the reservoir is complete, and walkers and runners will soon to be able to use fitness equipment along the way as well.

“The project is complete and has been closed out,” John Sigman, Pearl River Valley Water Supply District (PRV) general manager, said. “The next thing we’ll do is install exercise equipment that goes along that trail.”

The PRV has purchased the equipment, and Sigman said he hopes to have it installed soon.

“It’ll be stationary exercises such as chin up bars and sit up bars that you can do along the trail.”

The completed project is a 300-yard addition to the Northshore trail system and has a separate entrance, “so people don’t have to tangle with cars.”

Sigman said that with the exercise stations, he’s looking forward to a lot of people enjoying the trail.

The project’s construction was approximately $145,000.
