Madison-Ridgeland Rotarians presented a check for $1,000 to the Mississippi Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in matched funds raised for the non-profit’s October walk and run fundraiser. Rotary Clubs across the United States raised more than $250,000 to benefit walks held nationwide.


Uptown Drawdown

The 2020 Uptown Drawdown benefitting the Mississippi Kidney Foundation will be held on February 29 at the Country Club of Jackson. Planning the event are (from left) Sean Doran, Walton and Ben Lane, Caroline and Arthur Walden, Matt Monsour, Matthew Majure, and Nash Gilmore, members of  The Friends of the Foundation Committee.



Program on real estate

Jo Usry, CEO of the Central Mississippi Association of Realtors (CMR) recently spoke to the Rotary Club of North Jackson. Usry informed club members and guests about the role of a Realtor, the purpose of the CMR and some of the median home prices in the metro Jackson area.


Marijuana campaign

The Rotary Club of Jackson recently welcomed Jamie Grantham of the Medical Marijuana Campaign 2020 as guest speaker. She discussed the benefits of medical use cannabis versus opioids. She explained the processes of obtaining permission for medical-use cannabis and how it would be regulated.



Drawdown committee

The 2020 Jackson Yacht Club Foundation $10,000 Drawdown is set for Thursday, February 20, 2020, at JYC from 7 to 10 pm. The Drawdown will feature music downstairs at JYC by Raphael Semmes with vocalist Jewel Bass and upstairs with musician Barry Leach.




Opening prayer

The Reverend Chip Stevens (center), senior pastor of First Baptist Church, delivered an opening prayer to the state Senate on Monday, January 13, at the invitation of Senator Dean Kirby, (left) who led the Pledge of Allegiance before Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann (right) led lawmakers into the day’s business.


Guest speaker

Outstanding Cadet

The Daughters of the American Revolution Outstanding Cadet Silver Medal is for participation in a non-ROTC military affiliated cadet program. The medal is presented to a cadet who has distinguished himself or herself through outstanding leadership, honor, service, courage, and patriotism.
