Pruning pro

The Garden Club of Madison’s first meeting of their new year was held recently at the Denson Building in Madison. The program was “Pruning like a Pro”, featuring Jeff McManus, director of landscape services at the University of Mississippi.

Fondren Unwrapped

Fondren merchants are decking their walls for Fondren Unwrapped, the annual holiday open house, Thursday, November 14, 5 - 8 p.m. The Mississippi Symphony String Ensemble will be playing in a shop window on Duling. There will be sidewalk hot chocolate stands, complete with marshmallows and peppermint canes.  Kids will enjoy face-painting.

Eagle Scout

Christopher McHenry (center) was recognized for earning his Eagle Scout rank at Troop 8’s October Court of Honor at First Baptist Church of Jackson. For his Eagle Project Christopher constructed multiple Adirondack chairs for Sunnybrook Cares’ Sunset Hill, a foster care and adoption respite facility.

Discusses appellate court

Mississippi Court of Appeals Presiding Judge Jack L. Wilson was the guest speaker at a recent meeting of the Madison-Ridgeland Rotary Club. Thomas Dale (center) was recognized for earning his Eagle Scout rank at Troop 8’s October Court of Honor at First Baptist Church of Jackson. His Eagle Project provided environmental clean-up, migratory birdhouses and trail management for the Fannye Cook site benefitting Pearl Riverkeeper.

Dual enrollment
