Golf world

John Markow competed in the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship, in the nine-year-old division versus 154 kids from 30 countries and more than 30 states. He shot 84-81-78 and finished T75 overall. The event was held at Pinehurst. He is shown with his parents Mark and Michelle.



Hotel management

The Mississippi PGA Trustmark Invitational golf tournament was held recently at Reunion Golf and Country Club in Madison. Tournament winners, bank and country club representatives are (from left) Melanie Morgan, Eddie Brescher, Ricky Sims, Nate Kitson, Tim Basel, and Kyle Ramey.




Gift of time

Trustmark’s A Gift of Time campaign, which takes place each year during the months of May and June, gives Trustmark and Fisher Brown Bottrell Insurance, Inc., associates the opportunity to share their time and talents during business hours by volunteering with a local organization.



State Athletics

John Cohen, athletics director at Mississippi State University, spoke recently to the Rotary Club of North Jackson and provided an update on the university’s athletic successes over the past year, as well as an overview of their focus on student-athletes.

Baptist Adult Day Health Services of North Jackson Lead Program Assistant Sarah Sample (left) accepts two framed prints from Madison County Master Gardener (MCMG) representative Linda Townsend (right). MCMG members recently presented the program “All About Birds” to the center as part of their ongoing outreach program.



Third generation

David Henderson Cheek, Troop 266, West University United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas, recently received the Boy Scouts of America’s highest honor, the Eagle Scout Award.  He is the son of Ann and John Cheek. David’s grandfather, Dr.


Eagle Scout

Andrew Purvis received the rank of Eagle Scout at a recent Court of Honor held by Boy Scout Troop 18. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stan Purvis. For his required Eagle project, Andrew oversaw the building of an outdoor equipment storage bin for the Challenge Course at Camp Down Range in Clinton.
