Heavy rains this afternoon once again caused flash flooding in the creeks that flow through north east Jackson on the way to the Pearl River.
Unfortunately the development in Madison County over the past 30 years has accelerated the water and stream flows through the streams due to hard surfaces and drainage systems.
That means more erosion which is bad news for folks with homes adjacent to high flow creeks like Purple, White Oak and Hanging Moss. What is needed is retention ponds to intervene and slow down water flows.
The attached picture taken 8/14/20 shows fallen trees whose root structures have been eroded away.
