The Jackson Police Department veteran recently told the Sun he was retiring, with his last day slated for Saturday, January 18th.

Freeman has been with the department for nearly 28 years. He doesn’t know who will replace him in the position, but said Lt. Joseph Wade will be filling in at least on an interim basis.

Freeman plans to serve as a reserve officer with both JPD and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department.
