For the ceremony, a cathedral-length, detachable over skirt, also with satin-covered buttons, was added. The skirt featured a bow at the base of the deep V in the back, which added just a touch of Southern charm to her overall look. Her designer veil was trimmed with satin ribbon. The traditional white wedding cake had a fresh raspberry filling and buttercream icing and was adorned with a floral cascade of blush sweet Eskimo roses, blush marzipan roses, blush white Majolica spray roses, white lisianthus, white roses, and white hydrangea spilling to the lower tiers. The bridegroom’s cake was red velvet with buttercream icing and filling. An Atlanta Braves logo in fondant icing was displayed on top of the two-tiered cake. Guests danced to the music of Three Thirty-Seven Band. The bride and bridegroom and their guests departed in a traditional New Orleans Second Line parade, complete with Mardi Gras beads, umbrellas, and personalized handkerchiefs.
On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom’s parents hosted the wedding party and immediate family at a rehearsal dinner at Muriel’s. The day of the wedding, the bridesmaid’s luncheon and salon party was hosted by the bride’s aunts, great aunts, and close family friends.
