Mr. and Mrs. John Andrew Griffin of Jackson announce the engagement of their daughter, Madeleine Kavanay Griffin, to Corey Ward Olinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Edward Olinger of Madison. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Evans Ray Glasgow of Amite, La. and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Kennedy Griffin Jr. of Gloster.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nicholas Olinger of Long Beach and the late Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Willi Zarske of Gulfport.
Miss Griffin is a 2014 honor graduate of Jackson Preparatory School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and was graduated cum laude from Louisiana State University in 2018. While at LSU, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Miss Griffin earned her Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Health Related Professions in 2021. She will begin working in inpatient rehabilitation with Baton Rouge General Hospital in July.
Olinger is a 2014 honor graduate of Madison Ridgeland Academy. He is a graduate of Spring Hill College in Mobile, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in health science in 2018. While at Spring Hill, he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, where he served as recruitment chair and vice president. He was also an Ignatian Leader and Citizenship Award recipient. Olinger earned his Doctor of Occupational Therapy from the University of Mississippi School of Health Related Professions in 2021. He will begin as an outpatient therapist with Ochsner Therapy and Wellness Orthopedic Clinic in LaPlace, La. in July.
The couple will exchange wedding vows July 10 at St. Charles Presbyterian Church in New Orleans with a reception following at the NOPSI hotel. They will make their home in Baton Rouge.
