Mr. and Mrs. William Christopher Kellum of Jackson announce the engagement of their daughter, Riley Gwendolyn Kellum to Dr. John Mark Weldy, son of Mrs. Mark Elliot Weldy and the late Mr. Weldy of Hattiesburg.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Boyd Kellum of Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. Grady Ray Riley of Madison. The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the Honorable and Mrs. Jack Burkett Weldy of Hattiesburg and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ellis Davis Jr. of Hattiesburg
Miss Kellum is a 2015 graduate of Jackson Preparatory School. In 2014, she served as Hinds County’s Distinguished Young Woman. Miss Kellum earned a bachelor’s degree in entertainment industry studies and music business from the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University in Nashville. She is currently an account executive for Cumulus Media in New Orleans, and co-owner of Mississippi’s inaugural 61’s Revival Music Festival.
Dr. Weldy was graduated with honors from Oak Grove High School in 2011. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mississippi, obtaining his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry in 2015. While at Ole Miss, he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Dr. Weldy earned his medical degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2019 and is currently a resident of orthopedic surgery at Tulane University in New Orleans.
The couple will exchange vows on August 14 at Bellwether Church with a reception following at Sterling Hall in Canton. They will make their home in New Orleans.
