Experts have found that many individuals with opioid use disorders self-mediate to numb the pain of depression, anxiety, or other emotional trauma. To explore the mental health impact caused by opioid misuse, the Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health will host a webinar on Wednesday, April 28 at noon.
The Mental Health and Opioid Addiction webinar will be led by Shane Garrad, LCSW, ICCS, ICADC II. Garrad is the bureau drector, Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services, Mississippi Department of Mental Health.
The webinar is free and can be accessed via https://bit.ly/3n0vyG7.
“This is an important discussion,” said Dr. Sandra Melvin, CEO, Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health. “I highly encourage parents, law enforcement personnel, mental health professionals and community leaders to join us as we discuss ways to address this crisis.”
