Since May more than 400 potholes in North Jackson repaired

The Northside has about 400 fewer potholes, thanks to the efforts of Hinds County road crews and District One Supervisor Robert Graham.

About a month ago, Graham urged Northsiders to call him to report potholes and other road problems.

Renaissance to feature new show fountain, theater and Costco

The second and third phases of Renaissance are on track to be finished next year, complete with another show fountain and Malco theater.

The city of Ridgeland director of community development Alan Hart said, based on reports from the developer, that phase two of Renaissance should be open by summer or fall of 2019.





Beemon Drugs closing

Beemon Drugs Owner Lester Hailey has announced that the iconic North Jackson drug store will be closing on June 25. 

A notice was posted at the Maywood Mart institution today. 

The store, which has been a staple on the Northside for years, is known for providing home delivery of medications to customers.

Tiny state agency plans on issuing $895 million bond

When a Tiny backwater state agency published a public notice in the newspaper that it planned on issuing up to $895 million in state debt, it raised some eyebrows.

The Municipal Gas Authority of Mississippi (MGAM) only has a half-dozen or so employees, but that isn’t stopping the 30-year-old agency from some whopping plans.
