It may be hard to believe. But it happens. Entirely too much.

In one case, an elderly bank customer receives a call from someone posing as his son-in-law. The caller says he’s in jail and needs help. He tells the elderly man someone will pick him up and take him to a bank so the man can withdraw money to cover bail.

Atlanta corruption case reaches Jackson

Last month the federal indictment against Mitzi Bickers was updated to include some shocking allegations about former Jackson mayor Tony Yarber’s administration. This should be nothing new to readers of the Northside Sun. We first reported on this scandal years ago and called for Mississippi’s U.S. Attorney’s Office to take action.

The celebration and blessing of the marriage of Virginia Nell Parsons and Paul Jarlath Hughes was held at 5 p.m. on  October 6 at Cheekwood Estate and Gardens in Nashville.

The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Parsons of Jackson. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Jarlath Hughes of Galway, Ireland.

Ridgeland’s farmers’ market slated to end in December extended because of success

The city of Ridgeland’s weekly farmers’ market, True Local Market, has been extended into the new year.

True Local Market began in October and was expected to run through the end of December 2018. However, due to the success of the market, it will continue.
