Beemon Drugs Owner Lester Hailey has announced that the iconic North Jackson drug store will be closing on June 25. 

A notice was posted at the Maywood Mart institution today. 

The store, which has been a staple on the Northside for years, is known for providing home delivery of medications to customers.

Due to the recent loss in water pressure, the City of Jackson Water/Sewer Utilities Division has issued a precautionary boil water advisory until further notice for the following area:

·         Suffolk Drive; 39211

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School recognized Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent with chapel services in all divisions, including the imposition of ashes. John Moak Scarbrough (center) was recognized for earning his Eagle Scout rank at Troop 8’s February Court of Honor at First Baptist Church of Jackson. His Eagle Project recycled newpaper distribution boxes as Little Libraries for Batson Childrens Hospital. joins over 600 Eagle Scouts from Troop 8 since 1921.


Earning rank

Thomas Wasson (center) was recognized for earning his Eagle Scout rank at Troop 8’s February Court of Honor at First Baptist Church of Jackson. His Eagle Project benefitted the Mississippi Natural Science Museum. Wasson joins more than 600 Eagle Scouts from Troop 8 since 1921. He is shown with his parents Tara and Gene Wasson.

Mayor secures financing for major North State project

Two years and numerous discussions later, the city of Jackson is finally moving forward on the North State Street and West County Line Road reconstruction projects.

And the projects will be moving forward more than a year ahead of schedule.

New Costco construction scheduled to start in spring

Construction on the Ridgeland Costco could get under way in the spring, according to Ridgeland city officials.

“The developer plans to begin construction … in March and expects that Costco will be open before Christmas,” said Mayor Gene McGee.
