A conversation with Suzannah Britt on Hospice Ministries

Hospice Ministries of Central Mississ-ippi celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Suzannah Britt, the group’s executive director, has worked in various roles with the nonprofit, and recently reflected on the group in an interview with the Sun. Britt is a graduate of Co-Lin Community College and the University of Southern Mississi-ppi.

Lane Spell Rosson

Lane Spell Rosson, 74, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at home in Ridgeland, MS, surrounded by friends and family including her son, Bert Rosson Jr., her sister, Suzanne Case of McComb and niece Rebecca Case Lawler of New Orleans.

No Relief

No raise again for beleaguered Jackson Police Department.

Jackson has lost 86 police officers in the last year. Even so, a pay raise likely won’t be on tap for Jackson’s finest as part of next year’s budget.

The Jackson City Council is expected to vote on the city’s 2020 fiscal year budget today, Thursday, September 12.

Meredith McCullough

Saint Richard Catholic School recently hired Meredith McCullough as the new development director. McCullough will oversee all school marketing in addition to enrollment campaigns, school events, and fundraising. She’ll also play a key role in assisting the Saint Richard Parent’s Association. She and her husband, Micah, have a son Alden.

JA student killed in car crash, one day before she was to graduate

A vigil will be held tonight for the Jackson Academy (JA) student killed in a car crash today.

Frances Anne Fortner was driving along Ridgewood Road around 1:30 p.m., when she hit a manhole cover and her car flipped, according to Precinct Four Cmdr. Keith Freeman.

The vigil will be at 7 p.m., on the school's campus.

Renaissance to feature new show fountain, theater and Costco

The second and third phases of Renaissance are on track to be finished next year, complete with another show fountain and Malco theater.

The city of Ridgeland director of community development Alan Hart said, based on reports from the developer, that phase two of Renaissance should be open by summer or fall of 2019.
