More ramps open in Pelahatchie Bay

Battle against salvinia continues to be successful.

Following another good report from its partners in the battle against the invasive plant giant salvinia, the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District board of directors Thursday opened four additional boat ramps and a kayak ramp in the Pelahatchie Bay area of Barnett Reservoir.

Ridgeland’s farmers’ market slated to end in December extended because of success

The city of Ridgeland’s weekly farmers’ market, True Local Market, has been extended into the new year.

True Local Market began in October and was expected to run through the end of December 2018. However, due to the success of the market, it will continue.

Northside student’s article on insulin published in national scientific journal

Arko Dhar, a student at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, recently published a scientific manuscript titled, “Development of Diet-Induced Insulin Resistance in Drosophila melanogaster and Characterization of Anti-Diabetic Effects of Resveratrol and Pterostilbene” in the Journal of Emerging Investigators.


RIDGELAND MUNICIPAL COURT TO OFFER FEE WAIVER PROGRAM FOR OUTSTANDING ARREST WARRANTS ON CONTEMPT OF COURT

The Ridgeland Police Department in conjunction with Ridgeland Municipal Court will offer a Fee Waiver Program for individuals with arrest warrants for Contempt of Court (Failure to Appear). This period will begin Tuesday, February 19th and end Friday, March 1st, 2019.

Duane O’Neill, president of the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership, spoke recently to the Metro Jackson Lions Club. O’Neill discussed new initiatives of the chamber, as well as the challenges facing the business community in the capital city and surrounding areas.

At Jackson Academy’s honor code signing ceremony (from left) Greg and Michelle Johnston, Dr. Mark E. Keenum, Caroline Milne, and Jack Milne gathered to celebrate the occasion. Dr. Keenum gave the keynote speech, reminding students that integrity is the bedrock of a successful life.
