Riverside project stymied by lack of funding and unforeseen issues

Four years after it was approved by Jackson’s one-percent oversight commission, the Riverside Drive Reconstruction Project has yet to get off the drawing board.

Part of the reason is the city is still determining how to pay for it. Part of it is the second phase might require more work than initially expected.

City progresses with efforts to hire consultant for long term capital improvement plan

A private consultant could be in place this summer to help the city determine how to address its water, sewer and road needs.

Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba’s administration is in talks with a team of consultants interested in helping the city draw up a long-range capital improvement plan.

The Magnolia District, a new development coming to downtown Madison, will bring fine dining, luxury retail and professional office space to the area.

The development will be located on nine acres in downtown Madison near the intersection of Madison Avenue and Magnolia Street.

Road projects in county overview

Madison County engineer Dan Gaillet says he was hired to “pave roads and move traffic,” and he hopes to accomplish both with several road projects that are underway in the county.

“We are looking at short term, midterm and long-term projects to accomplish those goals,” Gaillet said. “We have a number of road projects underway.”

Slight traces of salvinia still found in Pelahatchie Bay

Summer is nearly here, and boaters are eager to get back out on the water at the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

However area residents need to be patient a bit longer as officials work to determine when the Pelahatchie Bay will reopen, according to Bobby Cleveland, Pearl River Valley Water Supply District (PRVWSD) spokesman.

Harbarger, FACHE, has informed St. Dominic’s leadership, medical staff and employees of his intention to retire as the President of St. Dominic Health Services, Inc. (SDHS or St. Dominic’s) effective June 30, 2019 after having served the St. Dominic’s organization for the past 32 years.

RIDGELAND MUNICIPAL COURT TO OFFER FEE WAIVER PROGRAM FOR OUTSTANDING ARREST WARRANTS ON CONTEMPT OF COURT

The Ridgeland Police Department in conjunction with Ridgeland Municipal Court will offer a Fee Waiver Program for individuals with arrest warrants for Contempt of Court (Failure to Appear). This period will begin Tuesday, February 19th and end Friday, March 1st, 2019.
