Fireworks to fill Northside skies at Independence Day celebrations

The sky will be bright with fireworks as Fourth of July celebrations kick off this weekend.

So, don your red, white and blue and all things star spangled and head out to one of the various Independence Day events across North Jackson and south Madison County.

There is something for everyone to enjoy in true patriotic fashion.

Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Lloyd Fordice of Vicksburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Louise Fordice, to Thomas Bruce Payne III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bruce Payne Jr. of Madison. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Governor of Mississippi, the Hon. Daniel Kirkwood Fordice Jr.

Decade later Germantown Middle School doubles enrollment

When Germantown Middle School opened its doors 10 years ago, there were 470 students enrolled and 40 faculty and staff members.

JA to host area show choirs. Jackson Academy will host its 7th annual Show Choir Invitational Friday, February 1 beginning at 5 p.m. and Saturday, February 2 beginning at 10 a.m. Local schools will perform including Jackson Prep and Madison Central. The invitational will also feature Jackson Academy’s show choirs in exhibition performances.









New state regulations postpones Lake Harbour for estimated two years

A much-anticipated road project planned for the Northside will take an extra year and a half and $100,000 to complete, thanks to new state regulations.

Work includes building a flyover bridge over I-55 north and adding additional box culverts to improve drainage under the Canadian National Railroad.
