William Morris Yeager

William Morris (Bill) Yeager, 90, passed away peacefully at his home on August 13, 2019 in Jackson, MS. He was born on February 8, 1929 in Paris, TN, the son of James Paul Yeager and Thelma Woody Yeager.  Bill grew up in Corinth, Mississippi and never imagined all the accomplishments he would achieve during his life.


All American cheerleaders

Northside Drive repaving to begin

(JACKSON, Miss.) – Monday, Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba announced that repaving is expected to begin on Northside Drive between State Street and I-55/Frontage Road.  The $2.4 million project has been made possible through the 1% Sales Tax Commission and funding made available to the Mississippi Department of Transportation by the Federal Highway

River on Rebel

Rebel Drive has a new stream and waterfall, but that's not a good thing. A water pipe apparently collapsed under the street and the water is gushing out and buckling and cracking the road in multiple places. Residents called the Jackson water department Monday but no action had been taken.

When Germantown Middle School opened its doors 10 years ago, there were 470 students enrolled and 40 faculty and staff members.




Lack of action results in loss of 34,000 library books

Inaction by library officials has resulted in the loss of approximately 34,000 books at the now defunct Charles Tisdale Library. The books were destroyed by black mold.

Meanwhile, any hopes of cleaning the collection were dashed recently, when an insurance claim filed to cover the books’ restoration costs was denied.

GOLF WINNERS

Team Reunion is the recent winner of the 2019 Gulf States PGA Caribbean Beach Pro-Am. Team members Assistant Golf Professional Blake Hatfield, Doug Garner, Justin Blackwell, and Jared Kobs won the three-day tournament by one shot. The event was held at the Casa de Campo Resort in the Dominican Republic.

Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee (left) signed the National American Indian Heritage Month Proclamation for the month of November for Magnolia State Chapter, NSDAR to recognize how the nation has been influenced by American Indians and indigenous peoples; and  how their contributions have enhanced the freedom and prosperity of America today.
