Stan Buckley on But God Ministries

Stan Buckley is founder and director of But God Ministries in Ridgeland. The Madison resident started the group in 2011, around the time he stepped down as pastor of First Baptist Church of Jackson. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and received his Juris Doctorate from the Mississippi College School of Law.

Jackson officials going after unpaying water customers

The new year will mean new efforts by the city of Jackson to recoup an estimated $20 million in outstanding water revenues.

The city ramped up its water shut-off efforts to recoup funds on about 20,000 delinquent accounts, according to Public Works Director Robert Miller.

JA student killed in car crash, one day before she was to graduate

A vigil will be held tonight for the Jackson Academy (JA) student killed in a car crash today.

Frances Anne Fortner was driving along Ridgewood Road around 1:30 p.m., when she hit a manhole cover and her car flipped, according to Precinct Four Cmdr. Keith Freeman.

The vigil will be at 7 p.m., on the school's campus.

Van Devender family donates for expansion of Batson Children’s Hospital

The simple prayer of a child for the patients of Batson Children’s Hospital brought about a $1.5 million gift from the Van Devender Family Foundation to expand pediatric care at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC).

District 25 Sen. Walter Michel hopes the fourth time will be the charm when it comes to seeing a “neighborhood improvement district” bill passed.

The Northside senator is planning to introduce a bill creating the NIDs in the 2018 session.
